Stafford Villa is eco friendly and we are committed to sustainability. Without compromising our guests' enjoyment or comfort we give regard to environmental and social as well as financial considerations. We recognise our business impacts on the wider natural and social environment in which we live and upon which we ultimately all depend.

Our challenge with Stafford Villa was to renovate our 1903 Kauri wooden villa without destroying the character to be a warm, fuel-efficient accommodation for travelers.

Our sustainable environmental practices are:

Where practical energy efficient light bulbs are used.

We have planted small native trees and plants for our native birds.

Our household cleaners are highly biodegradable and are made from sustainable resources-we use Kiwi Green.

We serve organic coffee, our citrus juice, sub tropical fruit and much of our fresh produce are organic, purchased at the local shops and farmers market.

We recycle all our paper, glass, tins and have reduced our solid wastes to a minimum.

Our green waste is composted.

We employ local goods & services and participate in local nature conservation.

We support the National Kakapo program with the Department of Conservation's Tiri Tiri Island program in the Hauraki Gulf.

We are members of Slow Food International: a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization, founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life.

The fruit from our Loquat trees feed a colony of Native Wood Pigeons, which were near extinction in the area but now are a thriving colony. They are monitored yearly by The University of Auckland.
